About
Jarrod M. Burges is a mineralogist, petrologist, and machine learning engineer, with expertise in zircon geochemistry and unsupervised machine learning techniques. Burges is a Ph.D. student at Rutgers University Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He is co-developer of GeoCORK, an advanced research data management tool for U-Pb geochronology data, with in-development expansion into geochemistry.
Burges builds on his technical and theoretical background in Computer Science and Geology to explore and bridge the gap of applying data-driven techniques by computer scientists to be interpretable and understandable by geologists.
Research Interests
- Zircon petrogenesis
- Data-driven approaches to economic ore deposits
- Unsupervised machine learning representations applied to geochemistry
